Emergency Reform Passed: Reorganization of Emergency Care

Bundestag / tagesschau.de / r/Rettungsdienst

The Bundestag has passed the emergency care reform – central elements are Integrated Emergency Centers (INZ), telephone initial assessment, and new task division between emergency services and on-call services. Almost every second emergency department reports overload; regional differences in response times and paramedic competencies are to be standardized. The reform addresses misallocations and aims for better cost-effectiveness while maintaining patient safety.

ERC Updates 2025 Guidelines: New Resuscitation Techniques

erste-hilfe-kurs-online.de / r/KeineDummenFragen

The European Resuscitation Council has updated its guidelines in 2025; the most important change is the recommendation of the two-thumb technique for chest compressions in infants. Stricter Penalties for Attacks on Emergency Personnel

Hands-Only CPR and AED Availability: Survival Factor Increases

@hyderabaddoctor / @BBCRadioKent / medicalxpress.com

Current case reports show that lay-person CPR and AED availability can double to triple survival chances in cardiac arrest. Initiatives such as mapping AED locations and pocket defibrillator technology are gaining momentum. However, only 25% of US adults feel confident using CPR/AED.

Situation Report

German emergency medicine is in a critical transformation phase: the Bundestag-passed emergency reform aims at reorganization and efficiency gains, while at the same time almost every second emergency department is already overloaded and patient safety is endangered. The updated ERC 2025 guidelines and new school mandates in NRW force relief organizations (DRK, Johanniter, Malteser) to adapt their training programs. In parallel, aggression toward emergency personnel is rising, prompting the state to respond with stricter penalties – a sign of social tensions in the emergency sector. The industry is thus under simultaneous investment and reform pressure.
